The announcement of Steam Machines, along with Steam OS and the Steam Controller, has sparked curiosity in the eyes of many. Steam Machines, specifically, gathered a lot of attention in the gaming world as to whether these machines could keep up with their PC counterparts. As we've seen the machines prove themselves as viable options for non-PC gamers, many wanted to know whether that meant Valve was going into the hardware business by creating their own machines.
Gabe Newell removed doubt at CES on Monday. He stated that he sees Valve playing more of a supportive role in the race.

Så Valve har ikke nogen umiddelbare planer om at gøre deres kasser tilgængelige for forbrugerne, men Newell sagde også, at de vil fortsætte med at gøre, hvad de skal gøre og træffe de beslutninger undervejs.
"Vi vil fortsætte med at træffe den beslutning, som vi går sammen," sagde Newell. "Vi har været tilfredse med resultaterne af hardwareudvikling med kunderne. Vi har planer om at bygge flere maskiner, men vi forventer også, at brugerne vil være rigtig tilfredse med tilbuddet fra disse hardwareproducenter."
Dette er gode nyheder i mine øjne, fordi jeg tror, at ventilen skal holde fast i, hvad de gør bedst. De er gode til at tilbyde support til Steam on PC, som er den bedste digitale distributionstjeneste til spil på markedet. Steam OS har potentialet til at være et godt operativsystem også, men kun hvis ventil forbliver fokuseret, hvilket heldigvis er det, de synes at gøre.
